Governor Spencer Cox is leading a bold initiative to tackle Utah’s housing crisis. With only 9% of non-homeowners able to afford the median-priced home and a projected need for 274,000 new units by 2033, the state is taking action.
The Utah Housing Strategic Plan – Phase II outlines a collaborative, data-driven approach to increase housing supply, affordability, and stability. The plan includes:
- 150,000 new housing units by 2028, including 35,000 starter homes
- Expanded infrastructure and housing loan programs
- Streamlined housing policy and program administration
- Support for local governments to accelerate development
- A statewide dashboard to track housing metrics and progress
